Municipal Energy and Emissions Database
MEED is a revolutionary open-access, free online database that offers every Canadian community the data it needs to begin acting on climate change.
Our Tool
MEED builds GHG inventories for Canadian municipalities using downscaled national and regional data sources. It offers free carbon-pollution profiles for every one of Canada’s 4,000+ cities, towns, and villages to help government officials and residents understand the sources and volume of local greenhouse gas emissions.
Why MEED?
We are living through a climate emergency and don’t have time to waste. To design and take effective action to reduce greenhouse gasses, communities need to know the sources and volumes of their emissions. But maintaining an annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory can be costly and time-consuming. Too often, inventories become a bottleneck, preventing swift climate change planning and action. That’s why we developed MEED.
MEED was funded in part by a partnership grant from Natural Resources Canada’s GeoConnections Program. We are looking for partners to help maintain MEED. If you are interested, let us know.
