Our Services
Mid-Transition Energy Planning
Identify reliable, affordable, and equitable pathways through the energy transition for governments and utilities.

Service
The energy transition isn’t simple, but that doesn’t mean it has to be challenging. We help governments and utilities sequence fossil phase-out alongside clean phase-in, modelling and stress-testing reliability and affordability under real uncertainty. We determine the best transition pathways and coordination measures that balance energy generation, and energy demand across the economy.
Relevant Example
SSG worked with Washington’s Utilities and Transportation Commission to model three viable electricity decarbonization pathways for the entire state —39 counties — from 2019 to 2050. The analysis showed that all three pathways can meet Washington’s 2030 and 2040 targets, each generating over $28 billion in net societal benefits compared to the status quo. SSG’s equity analysis found that reduced air pollution could avoid $2.1 billion in annual health costs by 2050, with the greatest benefits flowing to low-income communities and communities of colour.
