The strategy outlines 21 actions for reducing building emissions including decreasing the size of new homes, improving insulation, improving energy efficiency, deploying heat pumps, and using green hydrogen for industrial process heating. These actions will achieve close to 60% of the emissions reductions required to hit net zero.

Better walking, cycling, and transit options will make it easier for Torontonians to lead more active lifestyles, it will also contribute to helping the City avoid 86 MtCO2e of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Actions outlined in the strategy support a healthier city. Shifting to EVs will reduce air pollution that contributes to stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, and asthma, creating health benefits valued at nearly C$1 billion per year.
