Webinar: How to use the Land Use Impact Calculator
Webinar
17th December 2024
This webinar explores practical strategies for sustainable land use planning and introduces the Land Use Impact Calculator as a tool to support land use decision making.
As Canadian municipalities grow, local governments are looking for innovative ways to accommodate, service, and support new residents and businesses. As a result, the need for strategic, fiscally responsible and environmentally conscious land-use planning is more important than ever. To support municipalities on this journey, we partnered with Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) through the Green Municipal Fund, with support from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), to develop two essential tools to help local governments balance housing, commerce and agriculture with long-term climate and financial sustainability.
Jeremy Murphy, SSG Principal Consultant, and Noah Purves-Smith, SSG Senior Application Developer, guide participants through the Land-Use Impact Calculator (LUIC) and the Climate and financial impacts of land-use decisions guide. Throughout, they showcase practical examples and successful approaches from municipalities across Canada.
